Liz Uy to write book about fashion
MANILA, Philippines – Celebrity stylist Liz Uy is planning to write a book which, she said, will help people dress properly for every occasion.
“At least they know what to wear while entertaining or while at the beach, para alam nila 'yung proper,” Uy told Kris Aquino in an episode of “Kris TV” which aired on Friday.
The 30-year-old stylist and fashion editor did not provide further details.
“I can’t really elaborate pa,” she said. “Pero, basta soon.”
Aside from a book on fashion, Uy said she also dreams of having her own clothing line.
Asked if she is open to doing a talk show or a lifestyle program, she said: “Why not?”
Aquino, for her part, said she is willing to be a producer of Uy’s very first show.
Since 2004, Uy has been styling celebrities including Aquino and actor John Lloyd Cruz, her former boyfriend.
She was also linked to Aquino’s brother, President Benigno Aquino III, when she became a presidential stylist in 2010.
Meanwhile, Uy answered some questions from Aquino about her personal style.
“Mabango, malinis at, sabi nila, reachable at aspirational. Na kahit nakapang-bahay ka pero ‘yun din ang gugustuhin nilang isuot sa bahay nila,” she said about her “style aesthetic.”
Asked about five clothing items that every Filipina must have in her closet, she said: “Good-fitting underwear, a basic white shirt, good-fitting jeans, a pencil skirt and an LBD (little black dress.”
When it comes to shoes, Uy said a woman can never go wrong with these three pairs – black pumps, open-toe heels, and flats.
“Kasi hindi naman every day of your life naka-heels ka. Hindi siya makatotohanan,” she said. “At kailangan may platform sa harap [ang heels] para hindi masakit.
“Go super high or flat. Three-inch heels are not flattering,” she added.
