Andal Sr. 'vomits blood', rushed to hospital
MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – Detained former Maguindanao Governor Andal Ampatuan Sr. was rushed to the hospital Friday afternoon after he allegedly vomited blood.
Andal Sr. was immediately brought to the Taguig-Pateros Hospital past noon by personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
He was then transferred to V. Luna Hospital in Quezon City at around 3:30 p.m., based on the recommendation of doctors from the Taguig hospital.
According to BJMP Director Rosendo Dial, Andal Sr. has been detained at the infirmary of Camp Bagong Diwa because of his illnesses.
Dial said the former governor had difficulty breathing and had a fever when he vomited blood.
Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz said they received information that Andal Sr. vomited blood around 12:30 p.m.
Andal Sr. is the alleged mastermind in the massacre of at least 57 people in the town of Ampatuan, Maguindanao in November 2009.
He has been detained since 2009 along with his three sons and four other relatives.
Previous reports said the Ampatuan patriarch has been afflicted with several illnesses for quite some time.
